Weekly Or Fortnightly Cleaning: Which Is Right For Your Home?

One of the first questions we ask when someone enquires about regular cleaning is how often they’d like us to come. For most homes the choice is between weekly and fortnightly. Here’s how to decide.

Weekly cleaning

Weekly cleaning keeps on top of everything. Nothing has time to build up, so each visit is about maintaining the standard rather than catching up.

It tends to suit:

• Busy family homes, especially with young children
• Homes with pets
• Larger houses
• Anyone who wants the house to feel the same every week

Fortnightly cleaning

Fortnightly cleaning is the most popular choice for many smaller households. You keep things tidy between visits, and every two weeks the whole house gets a proper clean: kitchens, bathrooms, floors and dusting throughout.

It tends to suit:

• Couples and single-person households
• Homes that stay fairly tidy day to day
• People who want help without a weekly cost

One of our customers, Laura, put it well in her Google review: having someone clean every fortnight was something she wanted “to lighten the load”.

What about monthly?

Monthly cleaning works for some homes, particularly as a regular deeper clean alongside your own day-to-day cleaning. Because more builds up between visits, each monthly clean usually takes longer.

Start with a deep clean

Whichever you choose, we usually recommend starting with a deep clean. It brings the whole home up to standard, and regular cleaning then keeps it there, so each visit goes further.

You can change your mind

Lots of customers start fortnightly and move to weekly, or the other way round, as life changes. With Rise & Shine you can change the frequency when you need to. Just talk to us.
