Do I Need To Be Home When My Cleaner Comes?

Cleaning a bathroom basin

Most of our regular customers aren’t home when we clean. They’re at work, on the school run or simply getting on with their day. So one of the most common questions we’re asked is: do I need to be home when my cleaner comes?

The short answer is no.

How access works

There are three usual ways we get into your home:

  • Someone lets us in. Fine if you work from home or you’re around on cleaning day.
  • We hold a key. We look after a key to your home and bring it on each visit.
  • A key safe. If you have a key safe, we use the code you give us and put the key back after each clean.

We agree the arrangement with you before the first clean, along with anything else we need to know, such as alarms, pets or rooms you’d rather we didn’t go into.

How keyholding works with Rise & Shine

Keyholding and alarm management have always been part of our service, for homes and for offices. Our staff follow clear security procedures, and because our cleaners are employed by us, you know exactly who is responsible for your key.

When our service ends, we return your key.

Who comes into your home

You’re letting people into your home, so it’s reasonable to want to know who they are. Our cleaners are carefully vetted before they work in customers’ homes. They’re trained in the way we clean and they’re insured. They arrive in uniform and wear ID, and we try to send the same cleaner or team each time.

What about offices?

For businesses, keyholding means we can clean early in the morning or in the evening without anyone needing to be on site. See our office cleaning page for more.
